Even though she was young, Lila was suffering from cataracts in both eyes due to diabetes mellitus.
The vet determined Lila was a "very unregulated" dog, and that Lila required a blood glucose test once a week for the next month in order to help stabilize her glucose levels. There was also a chance she would require a urinalysis. The fact that Lila was not responding well to treatment, suggested to the vet that Lila had to have been diabetic and unregulated for some time.
