Abby is a young chocolate girl who jumped a fence with her doggy brother to chase turkeys in a field next door. When her frantic humans found her brother he was covered with blood... not his own. Abby was no where to be found. Several hours later she came out of a wooded area "dad" had just searched... her left rear leg was missing from just above the stifle, and several inches of her tail was gone. According to the vet both were cleanly severed in a pattern indicating she had been caught in a bear trap. Her leg was amputated that night, and she went home however she developed an infection and needs some additional medical care to re-open her incision and clean out the infection... Her vet has donated his time and services because of the extent of the care her family has displayed in treating her... they have to drive an hour plus daily to get her cared for, but cannot leave her at the clinic as she has significant anxiety issues. With medical costs mounting they came to Labrador Life Line for assistance and although Abby's photo from after her surgery does look quite scarey she is expected to make a full recovery - thanks in part to your support and donations.

Update:
Abby is doing AWESOME!! The vet thinks he'll be able to finally close the wound for good this Friday if all goes well.
However... even with one of her legs missing and drugged up on pain meds, she has jumped the fence twice more. Her family are pricing new fencing, and have sent her "brother" to stay with some other family while Abby recovers as they think he may be a bad influence.
