Buddy is a one year old black fellow who was dumped at a farm following an accident in which DFW Labrador Retriever Rescue believe he was run over by a vehicle. Seeing that Buddy was extremely emaciated the family began feeding him. Buddy quickly made himself at home and got along well with the other farm animals and all of the family members. He was taken to the vet for a check-up and it was found that additional treatment would be needed... expenses that the family could not afford. With heavy hearts, DFW Labrador Retriever Rescue was called.
Not only were his ribs distended and his backbone sticking out, but Buddy also had a large tear in his diaphragm and his intestines were protruding partially through the tear. He had 4 liters of fluid around (not in) his lungs and stomach due to the injuries. Lying down or exertion caused very labored breathing. The attending surgeon stated that Buddy's sheer will to live is what brought him through a surgery with complications.
Buddy is now is a foster home, attends the Meet-N-Greets that DFW Lab Rescue hold for adoptions and is waiting for his forever home. Thank you from Labrador Life Line - assistance with the costs of treatment for dogs like Buddy are how we help, and your continued support is the only way we can do this!
