Sammy is a one year old black fellow who showed up in the neighbourhood with a collar but no tag... His current human took him in and contacted the county Animal Welfare organization and agreed to foster him while they searched for his owner. When the owner was found, he surrendered Sammy to the Animal Welfare organization because he was going through a divorce, working very long days and just didn't have time for Sammy. Sammy continued in foster while he was getting his medical history updated. As so often happens when one fosters a dog, Sammy became one of the family. After he had become a Family Member a painful ear infection showed up.
On discussion with the veterinarian, it seems that the ear infection was long standing. Medication, internal and topical, didn't seem to be doing the trick so Sammy was anaesthetized and a culture of the ear and a major cleaning was done. Sammy has a hole in his ear drum and a medication resistant infection in his middle ear. After the culture, the veterinarian found a medication that the infection is not resistant to.
Labrador Life Line, and Sammy's new family, would like to thank you for your continued support. You are the reason we are able to help with the care needed by dogs like Sammy.
