Cassie is a yellow girl, five years old, who was found in a ditch by the side of the road. It is assumed she was hit by a car, as she has fractures to her hips and pelvis, as well as a small tear in her lung which should heal on its own.
The Humane Society of Houma-Terrebonne has taken her in, and will keep her in foster care until she is adopted. Euthanasia is not a consideration. They will vaccinate and test for heartworm and treat, if necessary. X-rays were taken and did not show any adult heartworms, so they are hopeful that it is not a consideration. She will be spayed as soon as possible and before adoption. Cassie's prognosis with surgery is considered to be good.

An update on Cassie from the folks at the Humane Society of Houma-Terrebonne:
...just wanted to let you know that your check arrived and has been credited to our account for Cassie. She is doing so much better, thanks to the help from your organization. She is still a little wobbly on her leg, but she is walking and looks so happy! She is a so lovable and friendly to everyone - her smile is extremely contagious.
Because of your help with Cassie's surgery we were not only able to save her life, but we will be able to establish a permanent "Cassie's Fund" with the extra, unexpected money we received from outside donations to help save the lives of other stray dogs and cats found injured and in need of immediate emergency medical care in our parish.
God bless you and your entire organization for the wonderful service you provide. I appreciate the immediate response, the constant contact with you and the ease of working with your organization. Keep up the good work!
As you can see from the update provided, your support is really appreciated!
