Simon has been ill with episodes of excessive panting and elevated heart rate, as well as difficulty eating. His family has already had extensive testing done, and some members of the family have medical problems of their own.
The Ontario Veterinary College will be doing the testing that Simon requires to determine the actual problem his is having. These tests include a repeat brochoalveolar lavage, a muscle biopsy and associated anaesthesia, and some other blood work. Many of the medical possibilities that could be causing his condition are manageable with medication as well as nursing care and a few management changes (primarily activity expectations, feeding arrangements, etc.) so quality of life may very well be achievable. These tests are needed to make an assessment.
Both Simon's family and the board of Labrador Life Line would like to thank you for your support, allowing us to provide assistance for dogs like Simon.
