staley-2002

Staley, a 4 year old yellow girl, started out as a thin stray who had been bred young. She was found hungry and wandering. The Jersey Shore Animal Control took her in and she was adopted. Her adoptor immediately checked her into a vet hospital to get her on the road back to good health. All was proceeding well, until one day, Staley forgot herself for a moment and took off after squirrel and chased it right into the street. A truck tire caught her, fracturing her left forelimb as well as degloving it, and she slammed her head. Staley was in bad shape, but with the help of a passerby and animal control, she quickly found medical help.

Staley's neurological exam was good. She had a rough go of it several days in the hospital but she has come along beautifully and is healing well. She may require continued wound care and a possible future surgery for skin grafting and sutures. Staley's prognosis is very hopeful for a full recovery.

Thanks to the contribution from Labrador Life Line, Staley and her owner will once again be able to enjoy their daily outings of swimming and retrieving. Labrador Life Line is grateful for the continued contributions that make assisting dogs like Staley a reality.
