gratel

Gratel is a lovely chocolate girl who is approximately three years old. Gratel was an owner surrender to a kill shelter. The shelter was going to put her to sleep simply because she was in season. All Breed Underdog Rescue in Colorado saved her. Gratel was spayed and adopted out by ABUR. Shortly after her adoption Gratel slipped while jumping into a car and tore a cranial cruciate ligament. Her adopter was unable to afford the surgery needed to repair Gratel's injury, so she was surrendered back into rescue.

In November, 2002, the rescue had the surgery performed and Gratel is recovering well. Due to the nature of her injury, Gratel may face a higher degree of arthritic changes in that stifle than the average cranial cruciate ligament repair. Nevertheless, prognosis for quality of life is very high. The rescue organization has already had several interested parties in adopting Gratel and once she is fully recovered will find her a hopefully forever home.

In the words of her foster Mom, "I want to tell you that this dog is a great dog. She sits with you by the hours and will flip upside down on your lap. She ignores cats, she stays by your side when you are out walking. After the surgery it bothered her a great deal she couldn't go upstairs and sleep on the bed."

Labrador Life Line was pleased to be able to assist this special girl. Thanks to the generosity of LLL supporters, Gratel, and Labs just like her, receive the medical care they so badly need. They are then ready for adoption and the long, happy life they so deserve.
