Zoey was found laying on someone's front porch, she obviously was hurt and original thoughts were that she was hit by a car. Animal control was called and they took her to the vet.   It was determined that she was suffering from a massive puncture wound in her chest. Surgery to would be required to take away the dead tissue and patch her together, quite a challenge due to the size of her wound.

Puget Sound Labrador Association stepped in and took responsiblity for her.  They found Zoey's temperament to be incredible considering her ordeal!  You could see her ribcage before her wounds were closed, yet during her examination she stood and wagged her tail.

Her foster mom applied to LLL for help and we were so glad we could!   Unfortunately, later another surgery was needed and LABMED came in to help poor Zoey. Following is a letter received from Zoey's foster mom.

Hi All,
I just wanted to send out an update on Zoey. She is back with me and I hope I will be able to let her go someday. I would like to start by saying that she has made all the rescue work I have done and all the rescue work I will ever do worth while, I love her. She is healing and now full of puppy energy. I will be looking for a extra special home for her. If I didn't live in town she would be staying with me but I don't have room. I would like to thank Labrador Life Line and Lab Med for all of the help and let all who have been involved know she sure is worth it. I have had a lot of rescue dogs some that I loved and some that have driven me crazy but Zoey has truly been special. I will keep you all updated

Thanks, Misha
