When Zeke, 4 month old Lab, ran out of his house, a tragedy
happened: he was hit by a car. His back left leg, tibia and fibula were broken and needed
a pin for repair. The total cost was almost $1,200.00.
The vet outlined the expenses to the owners, and they were only able to put down a small
deposit to cover x-rays and a night at the vets to watch for internal bleeding.
Because of the severity of the injuries, and the unfortunate inability of the vet
hospital to work out a payment plan with the owners, Labrador Life Line was quickly
contacted in order to even schedule an operation.
Thanks to an emergency meeting, the case was brought to LLL's attention, discussed and
voted upon within 36 hours - during the holiday season no less. LLL agreed to fund $600 to
help cover Zeke's operation.
LLL is very sad to announce that Zeke died in post-operative care. This is not much of a "success story", but we all need to be reminded that not all operations have good endings. Please hug your pup in Zeke's memory tonight.
