One afternoon in September I received a phone call from the Monroe County Humane Society. I quickly jumped in my car & drove to the shelter. There was the sweetest, most loving LabraBoy. He had a family that had wanted to adopt him, but the pre-adoption screening for Heartworm came back positive. His previous owner hadn't given him any vaccinations, heartworm preventative, or training. The family adopted another dog & went home. I contacted a local Lab Rescue & they were unable to assist in this boy's case. Being the sweet boy that Bear is, I couldn't let him be euthanized, but couldn't afford to treat him myself. I spoke to several of my 'dog contacts' & the local All Breed Rescue, who helped me find a wonderful foster home; which included a very giving lady who works at a vet clinic, who had adopted a heartworm positive dog herself. I applied to Labrador Life Line to help fund his treatments, and thanks to them Bear will be starting his treatments today!

Thank you so much for your assistance and patience, Deenie & the rest of Labrador Life Line! Bear wouldn't be here today if it weren't for your help & quick action!

Thank goodness there are organizations like yours out there!

(Editor's note: This case was co-funded with LABMED.)

 Thanks again,
~Lisa Brown & Bear
