Imagine a one year old beautiful chocolate lab named Abby, friendly, happy  and full of fun but unable to be a real lab and show her joy for life due to a bum knee. At some point in sweet Abby's life she had surgery performed on her knee but it wasn't done properly and she did not recover properly. Because of that, her owner dumped her on rescue. But luckily for Abby she went to a Rescue run by a wonderful woman named Amy. Amy is a one woman show, she does all of the work herself, and pays for all of the needs of the dog's she rescues from her pocket. With prospective parents in tow, Amy set about trying to get this special dog what she needed.

But Abby's needs were too great for Amy's small, self-funded rescue. Luckily she learned of Labrador Life Line (LLL) from  Sheila Wheatley and applied for funding. Thanks to the generous support of LLL by the special members of LabsR4U who contribute through our Auction, LabsR4U bookstore and affiliate purchases, we were able to fit Abby with the life preserver she needed and fund her surgical costs.

Abby's course of treatment was complicated by knee infections that caused fluid accumulation. Through it all, Amy, and the new adoptive parents, gave Abby all the love, attention and care that she required. Luckily her new mom is a Physical Therapist so she was really able to provide Abby with the proper rehabilitative care she needed, including daily massages. In fact, knowing that Abby would need lots of room to roam as the knee healed, they even bought a bigger house for her!! That is love!

We at Labrador Life Line are pleased that this case went so well, and we know that BOTH Amy and Abby feel the same way because they wrote us a letter!!

"Dear Labrador Life Line,
This organization is indeed a life line. Without your assistance, I would have had to euthanize Abby.
All funding is out of my own pocket. I have never asked for help (when I have, I have been turned down). Your organization is a wonderful thing! Very professional and caring!
Thank you for everything. Amy & Abby"

Labrador Life Line is proud to have been able to play a role in Abby's surgery and recovery. Thank you all for your most generous support of LLL. Without you, we could not have done this!
