Dutchess is a one year old black girl who came to rescue with Ductus Arteriosus, which is basically a hole connecting the pulmonary artery and the aorta. During fetal development this is normal, in order to bypass the lungs which are not needed during the foetal stage. Normally once the puppy is born, and it begins breathing, this channel closes over a 7 to 10 day period. For what ever reason Dutchess' did not close. Her rescue group was, as is often the case, not able to absorb the costs of the surgery needed to save Dutchess' life, and therefore asked Labrador Life Line for assistance. The board of Labrador Life Line would like to thank you for your support, which has helped Dutchess to have this life saving surgery. |
