This sweet chocolate boy is Balto. Balto, a "Buddy Clinton" look-a-like, is approximately 5 years old. Even though Balto was blind and lame a wonderful family complete with a 9 year old boy for Balto to call his own, adopted him from the Central Indiana Lab Rescue Assoc. At the time of his adoption Balto's new family was told that the limp in his rear end was due to arthritis.

As time passed, Balto's family noticed that his limp worsened so his family brought him to the vet to have it checked out. The vet discovered that the limp was not caused by arthritis but instead by a knee problem that required expensive surgery to repair it. Dogs like Balto are seldom adopted because of their physical problems, but Balto's new family looked past that and saw a beautiful, perfect, warm, loving Lab on the inside and in all probability saved his life. LLL was glad to help Balto's family with the cost of the surgery to help ease his pain.
