Meet Rachel Peeples, DVM

Rachel My earliest memories of dogs were the Labrador adults and puppies that my mother had around the house. My first dog was an amazing black Labrador named Princess who sadly crossed the Bridge in October 2000. Growing up with this breed, Labradors hold a very special place in my heart, and so, when I learned of Labrador Life Line and the work that this organization performs, I jumped at the opportunity to be a board member. Every case that we get is a beloved Labrador and helping make that Labrador's life better cannot help but make my life better.

I currently live in coastal Georgia and work in the fabulous historical city of Savannah. My real job is caretaker to my crew but to pay the bills I work as an associate veterinarian with Banfield the Pet Hospital. Rachel2Even though my first love with always be Labradors, I have added a second breed to my life, the Akita. They are a nice compliment with the Lab teaching the Akitas to enjoy life and be a bit less serious and the Akitas teaching the Lab to be a bit more restrained and respectful of canine manners. I personally have three dogs. Guinevere is a female chocolate Labrador who is in training for agility competition. Zen is a fawn male Akita who does competitive obedience, pet therapy, and school talks with me about dog safety. Inori is a silver-fawn female Akita who is in training for competitive obedience, agility, and potentially conformation. I also foster for IronPaw Akita Rescue and have had a variety of foster dogs at my house. And, of course, I must not forget the queen of my house -- a Siamese mix named Zaria.

Labrador Life Line could not exist and Labradors across North America could not be helped without the support and generous donations of Labrador lovers around the world. They are the true heart and spirit of Labrador Life Line, and it is to them that all the Labradors that we have helped and will be able to help owe their thanks. It is an honor to be part of such an outpouring of love and generosity!
